OBSERVATION

One of the keys to be a successful educator is to learn from others. Through my observations in different classes with different teachers namely, Yoshida Sensei, Takahata Sensei and Regina Sensei, I have gained different learning strategies on how to deliver lessons in class.

TEACHING METHODS

As I have observed with my cooperating teacher, Kenichi Yoshida Sensei, I noticed that he used different strategies in teaching his students. He used both the traditional way of teaching as well as the use of technology. In his social studies class, he used an activity to inculcate learning among the learners with the help of the pen and board, while in his elective class, he used video presentation, powerpoint and a modern television connected to the web to deliver the lesson in his class.

LEARNING MATERIALS and INNOVATIONS

The learning materials that was used by my supervisor and cooperating teacher were books that are the same with the students. They used the web through their cellular phones, tablets or laptops. Worksheets also were always available and provided by the teacher so that students can easily follow the lesson.

LEARNING AND THE TECHNOLOGY

In every common or home room classrooms, modern projectors and screens are available. HDMI is widely used in the classrooms and each class is provided with a cord so that it would not be hard to locate one. Speakers are well functioning in every classroom. Pen to highlight topics on projector and modern televisions(in some special classes) were also provided. This is why it was not so hard for me to use technology while teaching in class as it was easy to use. Students can easily understand the lesson when they see visual examples especially while teaching comprehensive subjects.

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT

The assessment method that my teacher is using most of the time is questioning. I find it as his effective way of developing higher order thinking skills among the learners. He also used an activity so that he can see how students can discover among themselves the objective of the lesson and being able to achieve the context of the game. Successfully, one of the groups were able to discover the right action to the problem and I think his objective was achieved for that specific lesson of environmental conservation.
